This article analyzes the principles of representing, identifying, tagging and searching synonyms in Korean and Uzbek linguistic corpora. Corpus linguistics is a modern field that enables the study of language units on the basis of authentic texts. It plays an important role in identifying not only the lexical similarity of synonyms, but also their frequency, collocational environment, genre distribution, stylistic value and pragmatic compatibility. Based on the Sejong Corpus and the Uzbek National Corpus, the article discusses scientific and practical criteria for representing synonyms in electronic linguistic resources. The importance of lexical identification, dominant-centered description, semantic differentiation, stylistic tagging, collocational description and confirmation through contextual examples is also substantiated.
