Abstract

The HUMAN / INSON concept is a significant object of anthropocentric linguistic research because it reflects the ways in which human existence is represented and interpreted through language. This study examines the linguistic representation of the HUMAN / INSON concept in English and Uzbek from comparative cognitive-semantic and linguocultural perspectives. The research focuses on the principal lexical unit’s human, person, individual, and man in English and inson, odam, kishi, and shaxs in Uzbek. Lexical-semantic, componential, comparative, and contextual methods are applied to identify the main semantic features of these units. The findings demonstrate that the selected lexical items share a common conceptual domain but differ in the aspects of human existence they foreground. The HUMAN / INSON concept is consequently interpreted as a multidimensional structure incorporating biological, cognitive, individual, social, emotional, axiological, and cultural components.
