Abstract

This thesis studies the evolution of payment systems for medical services from the perspective of healthcare economics using comparative and systematic analysis methods. The factors shaping payment methods, the economic incentives they create, their advantages and possible negative consequences are assessed. The analysis shows that a single payment method cannot be a universal solution and that it is necessary to combine them within the framework of strategic procurement in accordance with the type of service and the expected result.
